You might experience a situation in which the SAS Data Integration Studio client fails to close. When this problem occurs, you should see the following exception message in the DataIntegrationStudio_Log.txt file:

The DataIntegrationStudio_Log.txt file resides in the following location on your client machine:

Notes:

• In this path, %userprofile% is a Microsoft Windows environment variable that points to the profile location for the current user. The default profile location is C:\Users\user-ID.
• Version specifies the SAS Data Integration Studio base version that is associated with the product. For both SAS Data Integration Studio 4.7 and 4.8, the version value is 4.7.
  

  Sample path where DataIntegrationStudio_Log.txt resides:

  C:\Users\sas\AppData\Roaming\SAS\SASDataIntegrationStudio\4.7

When this problem occurs, the only workaround is to terminate SAS Data Integration 4.7 with the Microsoft Windows Task Manager.

To circumvent the problem, add an additional Java argument to the distudio.ini file, as outlined here:

1. Make a backup copy of the distudio.ini file, which resides in the SAS Data Integration Studio installation folder on the client environment.
   

   Default location::

   C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDataIntegrationStudio\Version

2. Open the distudio.ini file in a text editor and add the following Java argument:
   
   JavaArgs_nn=-Dsun.java2d.d3d=false

   In this argument, nn represents the next Java argument number in the sequence of arguments that already exist in the file. For example, if the last number in the current sequence is 14, then your additonal argument will be number 15.

   After you add the new argument, the updated portion of the distudio.ini file should look similar to the following:

   . . .other Java arguments. . .
   JavaArgs_14=-Dsas.app.launch.picklist=picklist;"help\primary.picklist" 
   JavaArgs_15=-Dsun.java2d.d3d=false  
   Classpath=-cp "<VJRHOME>/eclipse/plugins/sas.launcher.jar" 
   . . .other arguments. . .
   

3. Save the change, launch SAS Data Integration Studio, and confirm that SAS Data Integration Studio can now be closed normally.
